E hoa, haere, haere, haere atu rā. Kia au tō moe Hazel.
Hazel Owen, our dearly loved friend, mentor and coach, passed away at her home in Kerikeri on 9 June 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Hazel has been part of the CORE whānau since 2011, firstly as a project leader for the Virtual Professional Learning and Development programme, and then as leader for CORE’s UChoose mentoring programme. Hazel was vibrant, fun loving, dedicated and inspiring. She was a learner, a teacher and a healer, she enabled others to be the best they can be.
Hazel was recognised for her work in New Zealand and the Middle East and was a recipient of several awards and nominations for programme design, research, and education practice.
Hazel is now at rest. We grieve with her whānau, and extend our deepest sympathy to John and all of those who mourn her passing.
