Applications are now open for CORE Education’s Pasifika Education Grant. Each year, CORE grants one $5,000 scholarship to support teachers of Pacific Island descent.
The scholarship, available to Pasifika teachers in early childhood centres and schools, aims to recognise and support the leadership development of Pasifika teachers in various forms, including mentoring and coaching, assistance with professional learning opportunities, and supporting facilitation skills.
The successful applicant must demonstrate his or her commitment to the education of Pacific Island children, be involved in the promotion and use of Pacific language/s and culture/s, and be actively engaged in and seek opportunities to gain new learning.
“CORE is proud of its not-for-profit research and development, and we are pleased to be able to offer opportunities such as these,” says CORE Education CEO Ali Hughes. “It is important that we acknowledge and reward the hard work of teachers across all areas of the education sector, but we are especially excited to offer this Pasifika-focused grant,” says Mrs. Hughes.
