With the CORE whānau increasingly expanding, there has developed a need for more permanent office spaces outside of the pre-existing Christchurch and Wellington offices. CORE is excited to announce its expansion to Auckland at the beginning of July as a result of its growth.
From the 2 July CORE will have permanent desks at The Kitchen office. The Kitchen is “...a shared workspace for cooking up ideas for social good”. Located in Ponsonby, it has “...a special (but not exclusive) focus on social entrepreneurs, community organisations, and all those working for ‘more than profit’”, which fits in with the values of CORE and ensures the Auckland CORE staff will be sharing space with like-minded people.
John Fenaughty, CORE’s Auckland-based Senior Researcher who has coordinated the move, is thrilled about CORE expanding to a third permanent location. “The cool thing about The Kitchen is that it brings together people involved in changing the world for the better,” says John. “There are all sorts of fabulous things going on there, and I’m hopeful that this cross-sectoral involvement will stimulate creativity and help us cross-pollinate and produce even more exciting projects and collaborations!” John added.
CORE CEO Ali Hughes agrees, adding: "It's exciting that our growing number of Auckland staff in particular have a base and somewhere they can meet regularly".
