Poipoia te Mokopuna, established by MoE late 2013, is underpinned by the principles of Te Whāriki (Early Childhood Curriculum) and Ka Hikitia (the Māori education strategy). It is designed to meet the diverse learning needs of whānau, and is focussed on tamariki and mokopuna under three years of age who:
The evaluation design is grounded in kaupapa Māori ethics, and evaluation values that appreciate context, complexity and nuance.
The evaluation was led by Alex Hotere-Barnes and supported by Mandy Jackson as co-evaluator. Evaluation team members include: Maria Tibble, Ngatai Walker, Phoebe Davis, Tracey McAllister, Wharehoka Wano and Wawaro Te Whaiti.
