The criteria information below provides you with expert-level criteria components of each DigiAward category. It is important that these criteria are shared with your students and used at the design, development, and critiquing stages of their entries. The judging panel will also use the criteria to select successful entries and ultimate winners of each category and age group.
Make a movie that shares the way you are “being the change” you want to see in the world, and holds the audience’s attention from beginning to end. Your movie, documentary, report, or digital story should be no more than three minutes long and demonstrate excellent camera-work, editing, dialogue or narration, plus background music that enhances the story.
Movie making judging criteria
Compelling: The story/movie has a compelling message and easily holds audience attention from beginning to end.
Technical: Lighting, audio/sound, photography, editing are effectively used to enhance the movie.
Creativity: The movie displays originality and creativity in both the narrative and video production.
If you want to see change in the world but don’t have a ticket to travel you can move characters or people around in a world that is projected onto a green screen. This could be a future or past world, use your imagination to create a place you would love to be a part of.
Green screen judging criteria
Compelling: Your green screen masterpiece is so realistic that your audience feels completed transported to the location in time, space or imagination.
Technical: Green screen techniques used result in a realistic look and feel.
Creativity: The green screen displays originality and creativity in the narrative, video production and world created.

Digital sandpit judging criteria
Develop a website that explains, explores or encourages positive change. Be original in your concept, content and design. Your website can contain a range of media including blogs, video, polls, etc.
Website creation judging criteria
Using a digital-art form such as graphic design, digital photos (altered or unaltered), animation, comics or a photo-story, celebrate and illustrate "Be the Change" using good composition, emotion, or digital techniques.
Digital art judging criteria
Compelling: The digital art displays a high level of understanding of visual imagery. It captures the audience and creates a ‘vibe’.
Technical: Digital technology has been used creatively to achieve a particular look or focus on the theme of "Be the Change".
Creativity: Originality and creativity are seen in the artwork.
