Pohewatia te āpōpō, underpins CORE Education’s philosophy of reimagining education for tomorrow, and its firm commitment to te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, biculturalism, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. ‘Pohewatia’ is about reimagining, dreaming and creating. ‘Āpōpō’ means tomorrow, the future. Together, the phrase encapsulates the spirit of CORE’s aspirations and vision for our children’s education, which is at the heart of what CORE uLearn is all about.
Pohewatia te āpōpō is about growing a culture of innovation. Building on a No 8 wire mentality that we share as a nation, we have the ability to create great things, and find new solutions to challenges. CORE uLearn helps us to explore new ways to do things, disrupt the status quo, and keep our eyes firmly on the future.
CORE uLearn encourages participants to connect with the wider education sector and create collaborative networks. We are all in this together. When we cultivate inclusive mindsets and embrace the challenge of providing equitable learning opportunities, we leave no-one behind. CORE’s future focused approach takes lessons from the past and elevates the possibilities for the next generations.
By building community and broadening horizons we can reimagine a better future. We can actively strengthen and grow sustainable ecosystems around us.
And we want exactly the same for our learners. Our role as educators is to support them to reimagine a bright future, and to equip them with the skills and competencies to collaborate effectively, and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
