Digital Technologies Implementation for Years 7-10: A 2018 Google CS Educator PD Course

By 2020, schools and kura will need to have taken steps to implement the new Digital Technologies and Hangarau Matihiko curriculum content by 2020. Learners of 2018 are immersed in a digital world, so they need the opportunity to move from digital savvy users, to informed creators of digital outcomes. This course, sponsored by Google, will provide concise and in-depth support for teacher/leaders from years 7 to 10 to address particular challenges and opportunities unique to middle school sector.

Learning Outcomes

This workshop enables participants to explore the new content and consider strategies for implementation at school and communities of learning/kāhui ako level.

Who is this for?

Years 7-10 teachers/leaders tasked with the responsibility for ensuring implementation takes place, participants will be able to consider their present situation with regards to Digital Technologies and develop a plan for implementation. 

Course Format

This course consists of 4 weekly webinars and will provide participants with an understanding of:

  • The two new digital areas and their progress outcomes (Computational Thinking and Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes-connections between)
  • The wider Technology learning area they are located in
  • How the digital learning is underpinned by the Technology learning area, indicators, and strands
  • And the wide range of digital supports available to schools
