New Governance appointees bring valued skills and experience

CORE Education is delighted to announce four new appointments to its Governance structure.

Dr Bruce Bryant, Deb Gilbertson and Kaila Colbin will join as the Board as Directors, while Dr Ronnie Davey joined the CORE Education Charitable Trust as a Trustee late last year.

“We are elated to welcome our new Directors and Trustee to CORE Education” says Board Chair Dr Cheryl Doig “ We believe they bring a range of capabilities and expertise that will enhance the Board and support our staff superbly” she says.

CORE CEO Ali Hughes also welcomes the new appointments “ As we move into our second decade and expand into new markets with our recently opened Early Learning Centre in Chennai India, we will certainly value the input and support from all our Board members” says Ms Hughes

The new appointees are:

Dr Bruce Bryant is a Senior Lecturer at Manukau Institute of Technology, specialising in accounting, auditing & assurance, governance, ethics and management. His business experiences relate primarily to advising small and medium enterprises (SMEs)

Deb Gilbertson is Director of the Global Enterprise Experience, an action learning education programme developing global leadership skills in 72 countries. She has been a judge for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Public Sector Excellence for 10 years and served on several boards including the commercial arm of Victoria University.  She is a teaching fellow at Victoria University in innovation, management, and marketing.

Kaila Colbin is an entrepreneur, a connector, and a person who loves to see ideas turned into action. She is a co-founder and trustee of the non-profit Ministry of Awesome, the founder and director of New Zealand social media consultancy Missing Link; and co-founder and director of project management training company Falcon. Kaila is a PMPÒ certified Project Manager and is Chair of the Board of the New York-based Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts.

Dr Ronnie Davey has been very happily immersed in education for over 30 years, as a secondary teacher, curriculum leader, teacher educator, in-service facilitator, academic researcher and administrator. Currently at the University of Canterbury, she teaches English and literacy education courses at graduate and post-graduate levels and has a leadership role in the School of Teacher Education in the College of Education at the University of Canterbury.
