CORE were approached by The New Zealand Breastfeeding Authority to migrate their Moodle onto CORE servers. The Learning Design Team are now working alongside NZBA to continue to improve the content.
The New Zealand Breastfeeding Authority (NZBA) are a non-profit organisation serving the Health sector. NZBA’s vision is for breastfeeding to become the cultural norm. They run two initiatives: The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), and The Baby Friendly Community Initiative. The BFHI, an international programme launched in 1991, is an effort by UNICEF and the World Health Organization to ensure that all maternity services become centers of breastfeeding support.
CORE’s Learning Design Team have been working alongside the client to convert Powerpoint materials into a minimalist model for e-learning. The design goal is to provide community workers, health workers, medical staff and doctors with timely and efficient learning about breastfeeding. The courses cover cultural, social, and medical aspects of the subject. Moodle has proved an excellent choice of platform for the delivery of this material; being easy to navigate for the learner, and easy to manage for the provider.
