Anne is an experienced professional learning facilitator. For the past six years she has been a part of the Learning with Digital Technologies team working across Otago and Southland in particular. She has experience across the education sector in New Zealand. As an experienced educator and leader Anne has a particular focus on teaching as inquiry, supporting leaders and educators to maximise their potential. She is also passionate about removing ‘barriers to learning’ for students, particularly in literacy.
Anne facilitates the effective use of digital technologies to engage and empower all learners. She is also a mentor within the UChoose mentoring programme and Virtual Professional Learning and Development (VPLD) programmes.
Anne has worked with schools and leadership teams across New Zealand supporting the development of effective use of technology, Google how-tos, and teaching as inquiry, through to strategic planning and school transformation initiatives.
Anne has a particular focus on students telling own stories of success. Anne was co-research partner on the Tamatea Teacher Led Innovation Fund (TLIF). The research question was “What changes happen to current teacher-led practice when we give students ownership and agency by using narrative as an assessment-as-learning tool?". Anne is keen to support schools who want to explore opportunities for learners to be fully engaged in telling their own stories of success.
Anne has a background in primary teaching, and prior to joining CORE Education was a deputy principal in Otago.
Anne has expertise, and successfully supports learning communities and clusters in the following areas:
Mentoring and coaching
- Mentoring leaders and teachers, in culturally responsive ways, to gain consensus, establish mutually agreed goals; then plan and implement effective improvement programmes.
- Mentoring and coaching in face-to-face, online and collaborative spaces.
- Using the eLearning Planning Framework to self-review e-learning practices and capabilities to identify and target areas for improvement.
- Increasing student engagement and achievement through the use of digital technologies.
- Creating and implementing digital citizenship programmes.
Literacy and numeracy
- Planning and delivering numeracy, literacy, and digital literacy sessions, programmes and interventions.
- Moderating of Blended e-learning Literacy VLN Group, an active group with almost 1,800 educators networking.
- Developing digital fluency and digital literacy.

I am as passionate about improving the educational experience for all students in New Zealand, as I am about removing ‘barriers to learning’, particularly within literacy. I am equally passionate about educator wellbeing. It is a privilege to support educators through mentoring and coaching as they commit to inquiries and innovations to improve learning outcomes.
I am a connected educator, with an extensive professional learning network who support and challenge me. I’m committed to facilitating and supporting educators to connect and problem solve. I enjoy supporting educators to effectively use digital technologies to engage and empower learners.
I am a fun loving, enthusiastic, passionate, lifelong learner, living a mantra “if you learn, teach; if you get, give”. I use the term MAGIC frequently to share my passion for events and moments that are too special to remain ordinary! I love time with family and friends, meeting people, gardening, scrapbooking, photography, and travel.
