Aotearoa New Zealand's histories: Tāmaki Makaurau focus


By looking to the past, let's learn for the future! This seminar will explore aspects of Aotearoa New Zealand's histories, and the role education has played in it. Examples from the Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland region will be featured.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this seminar, you will be able to:

  • examine the importance of knowing who you are, connecting with others, the land, and the world around us
  • understand how your identity builds from knowing your whakapapa and where you come from - your tūrangawaewae
  • explore local features of the land, ancestors, protocols and stories
  • locate your place in the present and future by learning from the past.
