The Wellbeing Toolkit aims to bring staff together within a collaborative and supportive framework to explore what are often sensitive topics and overcome some of the challenges associated with operating in a contemporary learning environment.
Assisting individuals to proactively manage their own hauora (wellbeing), the Toolkit provides a framework and resources for workplace wellbeing. Highly flexible delivery ensures the Toolkit can be undertaken with minimal impact to existing staff responsibilities.
The success of our learning environments is intrinsically linked to the engagement, performance and wellbeing of staff. In 2016 NZEI Te Riu Roa commissioned Dr Riley to undertake The New Zealand Primary School Principals’ Occupational Health and Wellbeing Survey. This put the spotlight on the increasing stress our school leaders are experiencing on a daily basis. In parallel, numerous studies demonstrate that unacceptable stress is affecting teachers and support staff at all levels. In addition to recognising the implications of this trend for the health and wellbeing of those working in education, it also raises important concerns around the impact on educational communities.
