Joanne Robson FS W

Professional experience 

Since joining CORE Education in 2015, Joanne has worked alongside a number of schools across New Zealand to transform learning and leading in a personalised, future-focused way. Joanne is an experienced, innovative and passionate facilitator who works closely with leadership teams, leading professional learning and facilitating online learning.

Joanne’s strengths are working collaboratively to motivate and empower staff to promote excellence in teaching, leading and learning; setting high standards for all.  As a confident, dynamic, and articulate facilitator, Joanne offers authentic critical friendship, future focused practices, and a solution focused approach to problem solving. Joanne is versatile, adaptable and a lifelong learner. 

Joanne's M.Ed focused on the 'Appraisal of Middle Leaders'. This equipped her with critical skills in utilising productive dialogue, leadership development and effective appraisal practice.

As an experienced leader and educator, Joanne draws on over 15 years’ curriculum and pastoral experiences across the sector, having taught most subjects, including English and Media Studies. Joanne draws on her experiences as foundation staff member of the first purpose built Junior High School. As an educational leader, Joanne worked hard to create an Innovative Learning Environment within a traditional classroom setting, equipping her team with innovative practice to empower all learners. 


Joanne is an experienced facilitator with expertise in:

Future-focused education

Working with schools, communities and boards of trustees to:

  • explore future focused themes, including agency, personalisation, collaboration, digital fluency and inclusiveness
  • support the implementation of future focused practice in an inclusive, collaborative and culturally responsive way
  • build capacity within schools and communities, to implement innovative learning practice, aligned to the school vision and values
  • underpins all learning, leading and development with current, relevant research and practical examples from Aotearoa NZ and overseas.


Working with middle and senior  leaders, schools and communities to:

  • build  capacity to lead change
  • mentor and coach leaders to build capabilities
  • support leaders with specific leadership development and effective appraisal practice.

School review and strategic planning

Working with schools and communities to:

  • develop review practice, underpinned by relevant research that promotes continuous improvement
  • use a range of review tools, including the Educational Positioning System and ERO School Evaluation Indicators
  • identify goals, develop strategic plans and implement programmes of learning,  to ensure sustainable future focused school improvement.

Personal statement

After travelling the world, I settled back in Tāmaki Makaurau. My husband and I love exploring our local beaches, coffee, reading and spending quality time with our blended whānau and friends.

I am highly passionate about education, lifelong learning and empowering others. I foster a growth mindset, thrive on challenges and I’m determined that our tamariki access the best education for their future!
