Professional Experience

Ngaire has worked for CORE Education as a Learning with Digital Technologies facilitator in the South Region since 2015. She has also been extensively involved in the Grow Waitaha programme, providing tailored professional learning to schools involved in the rebuild or redevelopment of their teaching and learning spaces, developing communities of practice, and creating supporting resources for the programme.

Ngaire works alongside educators to reimagine possibilities for teaching and learning. She supports them to develop and extend their practices in innovative ways. Ngaire has particular strengths in elearning, creating innovative learning environments, implementing modern learning pedagogies and developing collaborative teaching practice. She is passionate about keeping learners at the centre of change and supports teachers to develop learner agency and to use learner voice to increase engagement.

Ngaire is a highly experienced classroom teacher and middle leader, having taught all primary year levels in a range of local and international settings. She has held team leader roles in large schools and been an ICT co-ordinator, inquiry lead teacher and curriculum lead teacher.

  • enable teachers and learners to become digitally literate and to think digitally
  • use technologies creatively to develop collaboration, personalisation, community and learner engagement.
  • use the eLearning Planning framework to self-review e-learning practices and capabilities to identify and target areas for improvement.

  • develop a shared vision for teaching and learning, involving whānau, communities and learners
  • transform teaching and learning through the development of collaborative teaching practices
  • develop effective systems to support collaboration
  • unpack what authentic collaboration looks like in their context.

  • evaluate, refine and innovate current practices using teaching as inquiry models as evidence-based support
  • rethink spaces to create learning environments that allow for flexibility, collaboration and innovation
  • involve learners in the creation of personalised learning pathways

Personal Statement

As an educator and mum to two primary school age children, I love watching their natural curiosity and how they investigate the world around them. In my work with educators, I want to empower them to support learners to create their own learning pathways. I believe that learners should be following their passions, making global connections and collaborating in order to prepare for an exciting future. Harnessing the power of technology opens so many doors for us and connects us in ways that we couldn’t previously imagine, allowing us to discover the world.
