Professional experience

Tania is a dedicated and experienced education professional who joined Tātai Aho Rau in 2009. Tania has had 15 years of facilitating across early years, primary and secondary education.

Through her commitment to whanaungatanga and manaakitanga, Tania builds strong, trust-based relationships with schools, clusters and kaiako across the early years and compulsory sectors. She is skilled at supporting the identification of professional learning needs of schools and teachers, and she works collaboratively to design professional learning opportunities to target those goals.

With a strong foundation in the science of learning, Tania applies research-based principles to improve educational practices. She utilises evidence from cognitive science in her own practice and in the programmes she supports to develop pedagogies that enhance memory, understanding, and application of knowledge among students.

Personal statement

He tangata, he tangata, he tangata – I am driven to develop strong and effective relationships with people, thorough the development of high trust and a shared vision. I believe in providing a safe and engaging learning environment in a culturally respective way.

I am highly skilled at working within a range of contexts from early childhood education to secondary, bringing creativity and depth of pedagogical understanding to the professional learning environment I help create.

I am experienced with facilitating both face-to-face and online, and can tailor delivery and professional learning in dynamic ways to meet the needs and identity of each participant.

An ongoing area of my professional passion is mentoring leaders and teachers, supporting them to embrace the rapid change and transformation currently occurring in education.
