We can support kaiako and leaders in early learning to:
Strengthen cultural capability
- Enact CORE’s vision for equity through learning, dismantling barriers to participation.
- Support identities, languages, and cultures.
- Collaborate with whānau and community.
- Use inclusive and responsive practice that acknowledges diversity.
- Build strong connections and establish relationships with Pacific communities.
All practice supported with te ao Māori perspectives, and a Tiriti-honouring, bicultural approach.
Grow leadership practice
- An early years cohort of the Advanced Leadership programme is offered annually.
- He Waka Unua – make meaningful change in your professional and personal life with personalised coaching and mentoring.
- Support to progress towards full registration.
Design a local curriculum
- Depth and breadth of curriculum knowledge and learning areas.
- Help kaiako make sense of learning dispositions and working theories.
- Understand critical theories, equity, and diversity.
- Integrate domain knowledge into curriculum experiences across:
- Digital citizenship – use technology to improve access and learning outcomes.
- Learning pathways into, within, and beyond early childhood.
Implement effective strategies for planning, evaluation and assessment
- Prepare for and make sense of ERO evaluations.
- Explore research opportunities.
- Develop inquiry skills.
Consider children’s rights and agency
- Understand the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- Recognise responsibilities under the Convention.
- Intentionally encourage children’s agency.
Promote wellbeing and resilience within their learning community
- Support children’s social and emotional learning – social competence, self-management and regulation.
- Our Early Years facilitators are NZIWR-accredited to deliver the Hauora | Wellbeing programme.
