Empowering kaiako in cultural competency to support Pacific learners
Build cultural and pedagogical capabilities to improve learning outcomes for Pacific learners with our Tapasā programme. This programme is fully funded by the Ministry of Education and is designed to help kaiako and school leaders to build cultural and pedagogical capabilities to improve learning outcomes for Pacific learners.
The Tapasā framework is used to improve understanding of teachers and leaders, ensuring they are equipped to engage with Pacific learners and their aiga in culturally responsive ways.
Who is the Tapasā programme for?
From 2025 to 2026, Tātai Aho Rau is engaged to provide this valuable PLD across the Tasman and Marlborough regions, providing support to early learning centres and schools that are committed to building empowering environments for their Pacific ākonga.
Each cohort will support 3 to 6 education settings, and we tailor the PLD delivery to the distinct needs of the settings in attendance.
Key details
This programme 25 hours of professional learning hours, delivered over three terms through a blend of face-to-face workshops and online mentoring.
Cohort B: Starts in Term 1 - Term 3 2025
Cohort C: Starts in Term 2 2025 - Term 4 2025/Term 1 2026 (dates are dependent upon the level of interest and could be extended into 2026)
