The Rise of ICTs in Early Childhood Education
2007 will be a year of increased adoption of ICTs in early childhood education—reflecting the implementation of recommendations within the ECE ICT strategy, and the start (finally) of the ICT professional development (ICT PD) programme among ECE centres. The impact of this on the schooling sector will become noticeable as digitally literate children arrive at the school gate and their well informed and involved communities require greater access to information and a share in the learning opportunities for their children. This development will also expose strongly held beliefs and opinions from the advocates on the one hand and those who oppose the idea of exposing young children to ICTs on the other.
