What role do teacher aides play in providing equitable education for ākonga?
Teacher aides work with kaiako to provide support, they are tasked with a wide range of responsibilities in order to create a classroom environment that fits each learner's independent needs. In addition to bringing their own skills and strengths to the role, they help relieve pressure in the classroom so each learner has a opportunity to learn, grow and be supported with their education.
Professional development for teacher aides enhances their confidence level and provides a collaborative space where they can develop themselves. It also adds to their "superpower skillset".
