Unveiling learning resilience

A kōrero with Jamie Taylor and Julia Wikeepa

“Start with small, small habits and steps each day — build upon those” – Julia Wikeepa, CEO of Hā Habit.

In this podcast, Jamie Taylor is joined by Julia Wikeepa, CEO of Hā Habit and Hauora educator, for a deep and meaningful kōrero about the hauora | wellbeing, focusing on the use of hā | breath for mindfulness.

Listen to Julia speak about how she has previously experienced low mood, anxiety, and addiction in her youth, as well as how her son and his own mental health experiences drove her to start her journey of mindfulness practices. Her journey has lead her to a place of growth and development, where she eventually started her own business to help and support others on their hauora | wellbeing journey.

Julia and Jamie explore the use of the Hā Tool, a Māori inspired breathing tool, as a way to enhance mental wellbeing, as well as some breathing techniques and daily breathing practices that anyone can use as a form of stress management for anxiety or panic attacks. Julia also shares practices that whānau or kaiako could use with tamariki to help them overcome heightened emotional states, such as by creating a safe space for them to express themselves, breathwork, and modelling hauora | wellbeing practices.
